Community Based Training
Community-based Programs
These programs are geared for business groups, civic groups, and other adult forums. The objectives are similar to those of the school curriculum, but can be accomplished in shorter, single sessions. The typical agenda for such a session includes the following:
- Overview: Power Point presentation on the history of visual impairment and recent advancements to assist blind people.
- Demonstrations: Explanation and exhibitions of how blind people can function effectively using guide dogs, Braille, and new computer technologies.
- Discussion: Elicit audience participation on how business or civic leaders can help remove obstacles to the blind with regard to education, employment, and social assimilation.
